Too Mean

I'm up, I'm up. Seriously, I haven't a clue as to why I am so ridiculously tired lately. Of course I suppose it might have something to do with my daily task list getting longer by the minute, but still.

So anyway, I have a story to tell. I have again garnered much attention due to my original tatted mask on Instructables. It was almost a year ago when I first joined the site and since then I have produced three full tutorials and one video. They've been viewed a ridiculous number of times and I've been able to help and answer questions from dozens of people trying tatting for the first time or just trying my pieces. The comments have always either been encouraging or questions, but never mean...until today. Now, I'll grant you that it's not all that mean and I really ought not take it to heart especially given the sheer number of those who have made, admired or purchased one of my masks, but it still burns a bit.

You can see the comment here as it is probably still the first one there. If not, I imagine a short scroll and you'll see it. I'd spend a few paragraphs arguing the point made, but really that's a waste of energy, so instead I'll just share and let you be the judge. Really, it would take much worse than that to scare me away as the site has been really nothing but good for me and well for tatting. So many people who like to try new things have been exposed to something they probably knew little or nothing about, so yeah...it still lands in the positive column.

I'm still tatting as fast as I can to keep masks in stock and I will keep doing so until the holiday is upon us an the mask fades away. I just wish that paypal would stop flagging my customers payments. Seriously I've had two flags just this week and there was another not too long ago. I feel like they're watching me not watching out for me as the flagging system claims. This seems to only happen when I have things that need to go out on a deadline. Never when I have tons of time, no that would be convenient. So know, when people are ordering masks for Halloween or a masquerade ball around the corner, I get to sit on my hands and not ship their pieces for at least another day. Yes, I am annoyed. Gotta keep moving forward though, no time to dawdle.

update: The "mean" comment has now been removed! Thanks for the support.

I kind of want to leave the comment on their pancakes instructable that their pancakes are ridiculous looking and not the right size for their plate. But I'm a bigger person than that. I think. Yeah, I am... maybe.

I often wonder about the psychology of people who use their time posting negative comments about things they don't like. What's the point? Those kinds of comments are always more about the poster than whatever they're commenting on...

Wow, way to make a crappy comment, random commenter pancake person.

Don't let 'em get to you. The mask is fab.

I think that is one of the most random comments I have ever read. No comment about the quality of the mask or the instructions; just how commenter thought it appeared on one person. Just very, very odd.

I thought criticism is supposed to be constructive. Or did I miss a memo?

There's a not nice flag for comments - I used it. I also finally registered so that I could add in my own comments, and not just in reaction to the loser, but I honestly feel that way. Remember that the best revenge is to live your life well.

Well I didnt get to read the comment so I dont know what they said BUT look at it this way they took their own time to leave you a comment no matter how cruel or stupid it was. I have always loved your tatting one day I want to attempt the mask when I am not so bombarded with things... I will list your thread today for you I had to end up re dying a batch of the gray because it had some major dark spots. but its good now.
Have a great day

I did not see the comment as it was already removed but I do hope you don't take it at all personally - people like that just like attention and the only way they know how to get it is to make everyone dislike them.
Your masks are beautiful and creative and the only 'negative' comment anyone has any right to make is that they are raging jealous of your talent! <3

I missed the comment but it worked for me because now I know that you've posted that pattern. Your work is great and I am constantly amazed at the things you create. Just because they don't get it doesn't mean it isn't Brilliant!

Glad the comment has gone - but as a community manager for more years than I care to remember - I have to say - wow! Look at all the *great* comments you got!

Seriously - there are some lovely, genuine, interested and intelligent comments, which is really something to be proud of. It looks like you've inspired a lot of people.

(You only have to start reading the comments on You Tube to realise the general level of the population at large's comments :)

Now I'm dying of curiosity... what was the horrible comment???? I guess I'll never know. Whatever it was, I'm sure they were a dullard. You more than deserve all of the hundreds of wonderful comments.
